Millburn Police Blotter: March 28 to April 4

Editor’s Note: The following incidents are reprinted directly from the Millburn police blotter, a listing of selected reports that may not include the full scope of activity in the area. All of the following incidents are accusations, and all suspects should be presumed innocent until proven guilty.

On March 28, 2016, Millburn Police Officer O'Neill responded to Neiman Marcus on a theft report. Neiman Marcus personnel report a female with blond hair wearing all black carried out three handbags valued at $2,750 without making payment. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On March 29, 2016, Millburn Police Officer Zonn stopped a 2010 Chevy Suburban at 11 p.m. in Old Short Hills Park for the curfew violation (the park closes at 10 p.m.) The investigation led to the arrest of a 19-year-old Short Hills man for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana). He was issued a summons for possession of a controlled dangerous substance and released with a court date.

On March 30, 2016, Millburn Police Officer Wichelns stopped a 2008 Audi S6 after observing dark tinted windows. The vehicle was travelling on JFK Pkwy south being operated by a 27-year-old Union man. The investigation led to his arrest for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana). He was issued a summons for the tinted windows and possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and released with a court date.

On March 31, 2016, Millburn Police Officer Shanahan responded to Nordstroms at The Mall at Short Hills on a theft report. Nordstrom personnel reported that a 31-year-old Scotch Plains woman concealed three articles of clothing and one fragrance valued at $151 in a handbag and left the store without making payment. She was charged with shoplifting and released with a court date.

On March 31, 2016, Millburn Police Officer Shanahan responded to parking lot C at The Mall at Short Hills on a theft report. The victim reports parking his Chevrolet pickup truck at 10 a.m. and returning at 2 p.m. when he noticed a crate containing 30 emergency light batteries valued at $310 missing from the bed of the truck. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On March 31, 2016, Millburn Police Officer Goldfarb responded to a Meadowbrook Road residence on a theft report. The resident reports sometime overnight unknown actor/s removed 10 boxes of grey/white tiles valued at $200 from his driveway. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On April 1, 2016, Millburn Police Officer Manuyag conducted a motor vehicle stop of a 2012 Hyunai Sonata on South Orange Ave/White Oak Ridge Road for tinted windows and for having an inoperable brake light. The driver, a 27-year-old Irvington woman, was found to have an active traffic warrant out of lrvington. She was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters. She was summonsed for the tinted windows, maintenance of lamps, driving with a revoked license, and released with a new court date.

On April 2, 2016, Millburn Police Officer Crawn responded to Starbucks at The Mall at Short Hills on a forgery report. Starbucks personnel report between noon and 8 p.m. on April 1, an unknown actor passed a counterfeit $20 bill for payment. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On April 4, 2016, Millburn Police Officer Lanni responded to the orange parking deck at The Mall at Short Hills on a burglary to motor vehicle report. The mall patron reports parking his vehicle between 5 and 5:45 p.m. in the deck and noticing $2,550 worth of merchandise had been taken out of his trunk. No damage was reported on the vehicle. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.
