Millburn Police Blotter: Feb. 17 to 22

Editor’s Note: The following incidents are reprinted directly from the Millburn police blotter, a listing of selected reports that may not include the full scope of activity in the area. All of the following incidents are accusations, and all suspects should be presumed innocent until proven guilty.
On February 17, 2016, Millburn Police Officer Crawn responded to Bloomingdale’s on a theft report. Bloomingdales personnel reported that a 54 year old woman out of Hillside concealed four bracelets valued at $152 in her coat pocket and left the store without making payment. She was placed under arrest and charged with shoplifting. She was turned over to the Essex County Sheriff’s Department on an outstanding warrant.

On February 17, 2016, Millburn Police Officer Aliotta responded to Coach at The Mall at Short Hills on a theft report. Coach personnel reported the theft of seven pieces of jewelry valued at $1,810 on February 11. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.
On February 18, 2016, Millburn Police Officer Pinero responded to Gucci at The Mall at Short Hills on a theft report. Gucci personnel reported that 27 year old Quaheem Whitehead and 30 year old Martida Bakare, both out of Newark, allegedly concealed two belts valued at $760 on February 14 and left the store without making payment. Whitehead and Bakare allegedly responded back to the store on February 18 to pick up additional merchandise when they were placed under arrest and charged with shoplifting. Whitehead was released after posting bail for an outstanding warrant. Bakare was released with a court date.

On February 18, 2016, Millburn Police Officer Wichelns responded to the mall after Neiman Marcus personnel reported the theft of four items valued at $500 by a male wearing an orange jacket who fled the scene. Police later arrested 22 year old Jovahn Pearyer out of Plainfield in connection with the alleged theft, who was found to have an outstanding traffic warrant out of Fanwood. He was transported to headquarters where he was released with a new court date. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.
On February 19, 2016, a 31 year old man out of Newark was stopped after he climbed onto a vehicle displayed in the mall. He was found to have warrants out of Newark and Bloomfield and was placed under arrest. He was found to have in his possession a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana) on his person. He was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and released with new court dates.
On February 21, 2016, Miliburn Police Officer Kaiser responded to the J lot at the mall on a criminal mischief report. A mall patron reported parking her 2013 Acura at 1:55 p.m. and becoming involved in a verbal dispute with a female driving a silver colored vehicle over the parking spot. The patron reports responding back to her vehicle at 2:30 p.m. and finding the paint scratched. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.
On February 21, 2016, Millburn Police Officer Poyner responded to Swarovski at The Mall at Short Hills on a theft report. Swarovski personnel report the theft of three bracelets valued at $947 from a display. The incident is under investigation by the Miliburn Police Detective Bureau.
On February 22, 2016, Millburn Police Officer Tavares responded to Pottery Barn Kids at The Mall at Short Hills on a fraud report. Pottery Barn Kids personnel reported that 19 year old Noelia Dagnone of Elizabeth allegedly committed multiple fraudulent returns while employed totaling $5,576 to her own credit card. Dagnone also allegedly provided $696 in unauthorized discounts to family members. She was arrested and charged with theft by deception, computer theft and shoplifting. She was released with a court date.
