Millburn Police Arrest Resident of Britain In Stolen Car

The Millburn police released reports of vehicle thefts and attempted vehicle burglaries through early September.

MILLBURN, NJ — The Millburn police grappled with several vehicle thefts and attempted thefts in the last week of August and first week in September.

Among the reports:

On Sept. 7, at 3:05 pm, Officer Reid located a stolen 2022 Nissan Frontier traveling on White Oak Ridge Road near Gero Park. Officers Reid and Kerwien stopped the vehicle.

The driver, Lawrence Gilheaney, 33, of Conventry, England was placed under arrest, police said. Gilheaney was charged with receiving stolen property, being an unlicensed driver, and having fictitious plates.

He was later released on his own recognizance, police said.

Also, on Aug. 31, at 8:59 p.m., Millburn Police Officer Jezewski responded to a Norwood Terrace residence on a report of a stolen bicycle. The resident had security footage of two males stealing the bike. Officer Manuyag located suspects matching the description, who were riding the stolen bicycle, police said.

One male took off running, but the second suspect, a juvenile, 16, of Irvington, was stopped and taken into custody, police said. He was charged with juvenile delinquency and later released to a parent.

On Aug. 28, Millburn Police Officer Hunt-Miles responded to a Cedar Street residence for a report of burglary to a vehicle. The resident reported that some time overnight, someone entered his unlocked BMW X5. Nothing was reported missing.
