Jewelry And Cash Stolen From 3 Millburn Homes In First Half of March

The Millburn police released details of reports in the first two weeks of March, including three thefts of jewelry and cash from homes.

MILLBURN, NJ — The Millburn police recently released details of crimes reported in the first half of March, including several home burglaries in which cash and jewelry were taken. There were also several car break-ins and one car theft.

The reports include:

Officer Kerwien conducted a motor vehicle stop of a wanted vehicle on Route 24 East on March 2 at 8:30 a.m., police said. "As he approached the vehicle, the driver sped off and eluded him," police said. Detectives Royce and DeRosa conducted a follow up investigation, which led to the arrest of Brandon McKinney, 36, of Newark . He was charged with eluding police and later released to the Secaucus police for an outstanding warrant, police said.

The next morning, at 4:14 a.m. on March 3, Millburn Police Officer Crawn responded to Monterey Village Apartments on Millburn Avenue for a report of theft of a vehicle. The owner reported that their 2019 Hyundia SUV was stolen after 11:30 p.m. The vehicle was recovered in Newark. The incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau, police said.

On March 3, 2023, at 12:50 p.m., Millburn Police Officer Kerwien responded to the area of Hartshorn Drive and Cambridge Drive on a report of three males attempting to enter parked cars. Upon arrival, Kerwien observed the males run down Western Drive. Officer Kerwien gave chase as backup help arrived. Three teens from East Orange, aged 16 and 17, were arrested and charged with juvenile delinquency. They were released to family members, police said.

On March 4, at 8:49 p.m., Millburn Police Officer Bifano responded to a Deer Path residence on a
report of residential burglary, police said. The homeowner said someone ransacked the bedrooms and took jewelry and cash. Detectives are investigating.

On March 5, Millburn Police Officer Recinos responded to a Canoe Brook Road residence on a report of a burglary. Again, someone entered the home and ransacked the bedrooms, police said, taking cash and jewelry.

On March 7, at 10:42 p.m., Officers Recinos and Nacim responded to a Rector Street home on a report of attempted burglary to a vehicle. Police saw a suspect flee on foot, they said. They arrested Abadoul Ouedraogo, 18, of Newark, and charged him with two counts of attempted burglary,
obstruction, and resisting arrest. He was taken to the Essex County Correctional Facility.

On March 7, 2023 at 5:55 pm, Millburn Police Officer Hunt-Miles responded to a Kilmer Drive residence on a report of burglary to a Porsche Panamera. Nothing was missing from the vehicle, police said.

On March 8, at 11:22 a.m., Millburn Police Officer Hunt-Miles responded to a Rawley Place
residence on a report of burglary to motor vehicle. Someone entered a 2021 Honda Pilot overnight, police said. The vehicle was rummaged through but nothing was missing.

The same day, at 7:12 p.m., Millburn Police Officer Zonn responded to a Parkview Drive residence on a report of attempted burglary to motor vehicle. The investigation revealed that at 7:05 a.m., unknown suspects tried to enter a BMW X5. Nothing was taken.

On March 10, at 4:59 p.m., Officer Wichelns responded to a Deerfield Road residence and found that someone had rummaged through a BMW x5 overnight, police said. Sunglasses were missing, police said.

On March 12, at 1:57 p.m., Millburn Police Officer Reid responded to a Taylor Road South residence
on a report of residential burglary that occurred sometime in the past three weeks, police said. Police said someone broke in, ransacked the bedrooms, and took an undetermined amount of jewelry and cash, police said.
