Millburn Police Spot Car Stolen From Middletown, Give Chase

The Millburn police pursued a stolen Jeep after it was spotted in connection with a local crime, they said.

MILLBURN, NJ — The Millburn police recently pursued a Jeep that was stolen in Middletown, after someone saw a man leave the vehicle and try to break into their home, police said.

Police said that on Wednesday, Aug. 30, Millburn Police Officers Palmer and Dalakian responded to an Alan Drive residence on a report of attempted burglary.

A resident told police that around 3:12 p.m., a man in a ski mask got out of a black Jeep Grand Cherokee, ran up his driveway, and attempted to enter his home.

The resident said that besides the black ski mask, the suspect also wore a hooded sweatshirt, ball cap, and white sneakers.

Less than an hour later, at 4:01 p.m., Millburn Police Officer Goldfarb saw a black Jeep Grand Cherokee on Parsonage Hill Road near JFK Parkway, police said.

The vehicle matched the description from the Alan Drive incident, and was confirmed stolen out of Middletown.

Officer Goldfarb tried to stop the vehicle, but it eluded police, the police said.

Goldfarb pursued the Jeep to Route 124 East, but the pursuit was stopped due to safety concerns. The incident remains under investigation.

A week later, police pursued a different stolen vehicle, but had to give up that chase as well.

On Sept. 7 at 9:50 pm, police said, Officer Bifano located a stolen 2019 Volkswagen ATS travelling on White Oak Ridge Road near Byron Road.

Bifano pursued the vehicle onto Route 24 east, but had to stop due to safety concerns. The incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.
