Millburn Prepares For Winter Storm, Potential Snow (UPDATE)
Millburn OEM: "Salting operations will likely not occur in advance of this storm system beginning as a result of rain."
MILLBURN, NJ — Public safety officials in Millburn are keeping an eye on a winter storm predicted to hit the area this weekend.
According to the National Weather Service, there is a chance of light snow on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday in Millburn. It will also be cold, with the highest temperature of the weekend predicted to reach close to 40 degrees on Saturday. There is no snow currently predicted for Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday.
A slight snow forecast increase to 3 inches or higher cannot be completely ruled out, forecasters say.

The storm has the potential to bring an accumulation of “dense, slushy precipitation” and high wind gusts that could pose safety hazards, the Millburn Township Office of Emergency Management reported.
“The Millburn DPW has mobilized to respond to this weather event by ensuring that their equipment is prepared, and shifts are staffed,” officials said. “Salting operations will likely not occur in advance of this storm system beginning as a result of rain.”

Localized power outages are possible. Residents are urged to stay away from any downed wires and treat all downed wires as “live” even if power appears to be out in the area, Millburn officials said. Power outages should be reported directly to JCP&L.
Here are some other things to keep in mind, the Millburn OEM said:
PARKING – “Residents are reminded that there is no overnight parking on streets. All vehicles must be removed from streets and parked in driveways so our public works crews can clear roads. Public Works will begin plowing after an accumulation of 2 inches.”
SHOVELING – “Please shovel the walkways around your homes, but do not put shoveled snow back into the street after your street has been plowed.”
