Millburn Preschool Opens With Veteran Teacher At Helm

MILLBURN, NJ — Laura Kulkarni always knew that she wanted to be an educator.

“I became a teacher because I wanted to make a positive difference in the world, and moment for moment, there’s no greater impact we can make on a person’s life than in the first few years,” said Kulkarni, owner of The Goddard School in Millburn.

A career educator, Kulkarni recently took the plunge into a new adventure, opening the Millburn preschool at 161 Millburn Avenue on Sept. 4. It serves children six weeks to six years, and is open Monday to Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. (Learn more about this local business here)

Kulkarni said that opening the newest Goddard School franchise in Millburn was another step in her journey to have a positive impact on young minds.

“There’s no cookie-cutter experience at The Goddard School,” she said. “It’s about individualizing experiences for every child and faculty members are involved in developing amazing and exciting lesson plans that foster joy and understanding.”

According to a news release, Kulkarni has spent more than a decade as an educator, teaching at private schools such as The Pingry School, Landon School and Barrie School. She earned a master’s degree in education from Teachers College, Columbia University and a master’s degree in English literature from The College of New Jersey.
