Millburn To Raise Flag For Pride Month; Other Local Events Planned
June is Pride Month. Find out about Millburn's flag-raising, a library event, and related Essex County Pride events here.
MILLBURN, NJ — Each year, Pride Month is recognized in Millburn Township with a flag-raising ceremony in June. This year, the Millburn Library will host a pride event as well.
This year's Pride Flag-Raising Ceremony at Town Hall will take place Friday, June 2 at 3:30 p.m. at 375 Millburn Ave.
The flag remains flying through all of June.

Pride Month traces its roots to and commemorates the 1969 Stonewall Riots, or Stonewall Uprising. On June 28, 1969, police in New York City raided the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar in the West Village. The raid sparked six days of protests.
Other events will take place in Millburn and around Essex County.

The Millburn Public Library will hold a Pride Celebration Saturday, June 10 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Auditorium. Children's author and New Jersey resident David Levithan will be featured.
Also, the 11th Annual North Jersey Pride Festival will take place on Sunday, June 11, at Memorial Park in Maplewood from 12-6 p.m. Find out more about that event here.
