Millburn School District Celebrates Youth Art Month

Upcoming: Student art exhibition, Scholastic Art and Writing Competition

This month, the Millburn School District is celebrating Youth Art Month, a national program designed to emphasize the value of art and art education for all children.

This year’s theme, “Art Builds Bridges,” will be on display in Millburn during the school district’s annual celebration of the arts at Millburn High School on Thursday, March 19, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. More than 200 works of art will be displayed, representing Millburn’s student artists in grades K-12, and displaying the range of the district’s art curriculum featuring architecture, fine arts, crafts, dance, digital arts, and music from the creative minds and talents of Millburn students. The public is welcome to this event.

The community is also invited to an exhibition of the work of Scholastic Award-winning artists and writers at the Scholastic Night of Recognition. The event will celebrate Millburn High School students who have won art and writing awards in the 2015 Northern NJ Scholastic Art and Writing Competition, and is scheduled for Monday, March 16, at the MHS Auditorium. The exhibit opens at 6 p.m. with the presentation at 7 p.m.
