Millburn Schools Celebrate Earth Day
The Green Schools team launched several planet-saving initiatives.
MILLBURN, NJ - The Green Schools Team, chaired by district parents Priya Patel and Lillian Cho, was honored by Millburn School Superintendent Christine Burton for all they did to support Earth Day and Earth week initiatives in our schools.
"Congressman Tom Malinowski shared his belief that the children will lead the way in saving the planet during his talk with Washington School students on Monday," Burton said. "He encouraged the students to be the leaders and to remind their parents and adults to make changes to leave the earth a better place for them."
According to Burton, the Green Schools Team compiled the many ways Millburn students are taking action, on Earth Day 2019 and beyond, to reduce single-use plastics and make the environment healthier and more sustainable every day.

- launch a campaign of DAILY CHALLENGES (e.g. bringing your reusable water bottle to school, carpooling, etc.)
- MMS TIGS peer leaders are created EARTH DAY POSTERS, Bulletin Boards, and Announcements

- HARTSHORN SCHOOL and DEERFIELD SCHOOL students participated in a school-wide WASTE-FREE SNACK WEEK

Burton also noted that Millburn High School student Jake Updyke created a video that "beautifully and unsparingly captures the injustice of single-use plastic pollution."
