Millburn Schools Celebrate The 'Power Of One'
Hartshorn School gives students, staff and visitors an opportunity to be thankful for things big and small.

MILLBURN, NJ - Kindess, volunteerism and gratitude were celebrated at Hartshorn School as January brought the Power of One assembly to the district.
At Hartshorn’s Power of One Assembly on Monday the Hartshorn community showed their gratitude to two of the school district’s hardest-working volunteers, Sharon Cohen and Kim Moore, officials said. Cohen and Moore chaired and grew Caring Kids into the character education program it is today. In December they ran their 8th annual, and most successful, gift drive for the New Jersey Regional Day School of Newark. Thanks to the generosity of the Millburn community, 1,000 gifts and over $3,100 in gift cards were donated to the families. Hartshorn School hosts the fun and festive gift-wrapping party each year.
At each assembly, students watched and sang along to The Power of One video, with an original song written by Hartshorn school teacher Eric Demel.

The school also features the Tree of Gratitude in the lobby that gives students, staff and visitors an opportunity to be thankful for things big and small. The tree was only “planted” in December, and it is in bloom with all of the post-it gratitude leaves from Hartshorn students.
The students and staff are gearing up for The Great Kindness Challenge during the week of Jan. 28.
