Millburn Schools Welcome New Special Services Director
Jennifer Sowa will begin her new position on July 1.

Millburn, NJ – The Millburn Public School District has a new director of special services.
On April 4, the Board of Education announced that the district has appointed Jennifer Sowa to the position.
Sowa will begin on July 1.

According to school administrators, Sowa comes to Millburn from the Pequannock Township Public Schools, where she has been Director of Special Services since March 2014, and Supervisor of Student Services from July 2013 to March 2014.
She also served as Supervisor of Student Services for the Alpine Public Schools from 2012 to 2013, and for the Montville Public Schools from 2003-2011. In addition, Sowa was a special education program coordinator (2001-2003) and school psychologist (1999-2001), also in the Montville Public Schools.

Sowa began her career as a Treatment Assessment Services for the Courts (T.A.S.C.) Evaluator and Probation Officer for the New Jersey Superior Court (1992-1997). She earned her M.A. in Education Psychology from Montclair State University and a B.A. in Psychology from Hartwick College.
“We are confident that we have found the right mix of experience and expertise in Ms. Sowa, and I look forward to working with her as she takes on the leadership of our Special Services team,” Millburn Superintendent of Schools Christine Burton.
Burton also thanked Dr. Harold Tarriff and Mr. Salvatore Colatrella, who have served as interim special services directors since the retirement of Julianna Kusz in December of 2014.
