In Millburn-Short Hills: Auto Burglary, Mall Shopliftings, Entered Vehicle
Police Blotter: May 26 to 29

Editor’s Note: The following incidents are taken directly from the Millburn Police Blotter, which may not include the full scope of police activity in the area. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
On 5/26/2015, Millburn Police Officer Lanni responded to Macys at The Mall at Short Hills on a report of a shoplifter in custody. Macys personnel reported they observed Aisha Siddiqa, age 18, of Summit, conceal merchandise in her purse and leave the store. Macys personnel stopped Siddiqa and recovered $189 worth of merchandise from their store. Siddiqa was also found to have shoplifted $369 worth of items from the Gap store. Siddiqa was arrested and charged with shoplifting and receiving stolen property.
On 5/28/2015, Millburn Police Officer Tavares responded to an Exeter Rd residence on a report of an attempted burglary into auto. The resident reported the driver side door lock of their vehicle was damaged overnight, however it did not appear entry was gained into the vehicle. A resident on Winthrop Rd reported the driver side door lock of their vehicle was damaged overnight and the vehicle was entered. Nothing was reported missing. The incidents are under investigation by the Millburn Police Department Detective Bureau.

On 5/28/2015, an Old Short Hills Rd resident reported that between 5/23 and 5/24, someone entered their unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway. The vehicle was not damaged and nothing was reported missing. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Department Detective Bureau.
On 5/28/2015, Millburn Police Officer Tavares responded to the Gucci store at The Mall at Short Hills on a report of a theft that occurred. Gucci personnel reported two females shoplifted seven articles of clothing valued at $2,225 and left the store without making payment. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Department Detective Bureau.

On 5/29/2015, Millburn Police Officer Lanni stopped a vehicle driven by Matthew Cacho, 24, of Union, for driving an unregistered vehicle. The driver was found to have warrants out of Cedar Grove and Union Municipal Courts and was subsequently arrested. The driver was issued summonses for operating an unregistered vehicle, uninsured vehicle, and for failure to produce his driving documents. The driver was turned over to the Union Police Department on their warrant.
On 5/29/2015, Millburn Police Officer Freem responded to a Coniston Rd residence on a report of a burglary into auto. The resident reported their vehicle was entered overnight, however nothing was reported missing. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Department Detective Bureau.
