In Millburn-Short Hills: Jewelry Theft, Stolen Sunglasses and Shoplifting
Police Blotter: April 16 to 19

Editor’s Note: The following incidents are taken directly from the Millburn Police Blotter, which may not include the full scope of police activity in the area. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
On 4/16/2015, Officer Manuyag responded to the Sunglass Hut at The Mall at Short Hills on a report of a theft. A sales associate observed a black male wearing a black vest, blue shirt, and gray pants try on a pair of sunglasses (valued at $350) and leave the store without paying. Further investigation revealed that three other pairs of sunglasses were also missing. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Department Detective Bureau.
On 4/19/2015, Officer Delgado responded to Bloomingdales at The Mall at Short Hills on a report of two females involved in a shoplifting. Bloomingdales security reported that they observed Jamilah Sherman, age 39, of Newark, and Belinda Reid, age 41, of Hillside, enter a fitting room with multiple clothing items. Sherman and Reid then exited the fitting room and exited the store. A check of the fitting room by store security revealed that multiple items were missing. Both women were stopped and had multiple clothing items hidden on them. Sherman and Reid were both arrested and charged with shoplifting and criminal mischief. They were released pending a future court date.

On 4/19/2015, Officer Tavaras responded to a Colonial Way residence on a report of a burglar alarm at 10:51 PM. The officer found that a ladder was used to break into a second floor window. Unknown actor(s) entered the home a stole an undetermined amount of jewelry. The incident in under investigation by the Millburn Police Department Detective Bureau.
