Millburn, Short Hills Students Earn 2017 National Merit Scholarships

These Millburn and Short Hills students captured prestigious National Merit scholarships for 2017.

MILLBURN, NJ — Several Millburn and Short Hills students were named among the 2017 National Merit scholarship winners. Nationwide, 2,500 Merit Scholar designees were chosen from a talent pool of more than 15,000 high-achieving finalists in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program.

  • Christopher G. Sun of Millburn High School (planned career: law)
  • Derek J. Huang of Millburn High School (planned career: quantitative analysis)
  • Mohar Kalra of Millburn High School (planned career: electrical engineering)
  • Ellen Li of Pingry School of Basking Ridge (planned career: science/research)
  • Audrey Yan of Millburn High School (planned career: undecided)

In addition, Victoria W. Mak of Millburn High School earned a National Merit corporate scholarship from the estate of Mary E. Beyerle. Mak expects to enter the field of corporate finance.
