The Millburn-Short Hills Volunteer First Aid Squad is inviting local businesses and community organizations to become sponsors of its inaugural Millburn-Short Hills First Aid 5K, taking place on Sunday, October 18.

The event will bring together runners, walkers, families, and supporters for a morning celebrating community while raising funds to support the township's all-volunteer emergency medical service. In addition to the race, residents will have the opportunity to tour the First Aid Squad headquarters during an open house and learn more about the volunteers who provide emergency medical care throughout Millburn and Short Hills.

Staffed entirely by certified Emergency Medical Technicians, the Millburn-Short Hills Volunteer First Aid Squad responds to emergency calls around the clock, 365 days a year. While its members generously volunteer their time, maintaining an emergency medical service requires significant resources. Ambulances, lifesaving medical equipment, medications, continuing education, and vehicle maintenance are funded through the generous support of the community.

"Every time someone calls 911, our volunteers are ready to respond," said H. Steven Roth, President of the Millburn-Short Hills Volunteer First Aid Squad.

Local businesses are encouraged to partner with the event through sponsorships ranging from Community Partner to Presenting Sponsor, allowing organizations of every size to participate. Sponsors will receive recognition through race signage, the event website, social media, and race-day acknowledgments while demonstrating their commitment to one of the community's most essential volunteer organizations. Businesses will also have the opportunity to connect with hundreds of local residents who value companies that invest in the community.

"The First Aid 5K is about more than fundraising," said Roth. "We hope it becomes a tradition that brings our community together while helping ensure our volunteers have the equipment and training they need to continue serving our community."

The race begins at 9:00 a.m. and will feature both timed and untimed 5K options, making it suitable for competitive runners, casual walkers, and families. Organizers hope schools, civic organizations, sports teams, neighborhood groups, and local businesses will join together for what they envision becoming a signature community event.

Businesses interested in sponsoring the race are encouraged to contact H. Steven Roth at sroth@mshvfas.org
