Millburn Soccer Club Squads Complete Season

A round-up of last weekend's action for the traveling soccer league.

A round-up of the Millburn Soccer Club's final weekend of final full weekend of action:

On Friday, the Pythons defeated the Manhattan Kickers, 2-1.  Kyle Mangold scored the first goal with assists from Eric Silverstein and Christiano Hocken.  Hocken scored the second goal off a corner kick from Mangold. Gabriel Nadell, Andrew Karp and Logan Schneider were strong on defense while Spencer Schneider and Matthew Brenner held down the midfield.

On Saturday, the Millburn Barracudas continued their winning streak and ended their season by defeating the Clark Angels 7-1 at home.  Scoring for the Barracudas were Alex Boyarsky, Emma Capanna, Yasmin Hallinan, Leah Mangold, Paige Nemet, Devon Thomas and Chloe Zegas.  The Barracudas finished with an 8-2 record, five of which were shutouts.

The Millburn Rockets lost 3-2 to the Monroe Mayhem. Jacob Bulbulia and Jason Strollo scored goals and Ben Chrzanowski was stellar in goal. Cole Freeman and Reed Fitzsimons anchored the defense and Griffin Schwartz was strong in helping lead the offense.

Alison Cundey scored the lone goal for the Crusaders 4-1 loss to the Edison United Wildcats.

The Torpedoes lost 7-3 to the undefeated Hunterdon Blast.  Ryan Koplitz, Aidan Gregorian and Kyle Jabobs scored for the Torpedoes.  

Rachel Broder scored four goals for the Millburn Hornets in a hard fought 8-4 loss against the Franklin Township Tornadoes in U-10 Girls action.  Katelyn Zegas and Samantha Goldman both had excellent games in the midfield.

 

The Millburn Cobras lost to the North Plainfield Destroyers 6-4.  The Cobras played with just 10 players the whole way and were tied with 10 minutes to go in a hard fought game. Charlie Levison (2), William Graff and Evan Fleisig tallied scores for the Cobras. Filip Cakulev, Brandon Dinowitz and Alex Flaum turned in strong performances for the Cobras.

 

The MSC Eclipse U14 Girls ended their 7 year travel soccer career with a 6-0 win over the East Brunswick Panthers U14 Girls on Sunday at Dideriksen Field in East Brunswick. Scoring for the Eclipse with two goals each were Tara Sood and Sara Salter and with one goal each were Gwyn Haertel and Izzy Kam.

Goals from Julia Burakovsky and Erin Blank propelled the Sting to a season ending 2-0 win over Scotch Plains Hawks. Meg Damstron, Christy Dwyer and Caitlin Lally led the offensive attack and assisted on the goals. Elisa Dalton, Allie Hopper and Sam Okinow anchored the defense.

In its season finale, the Millburn Soccer Club's Flash defeated the Flemington Sparks 6-0.  Abbie Policarpio, Essie Pasternak, Virginia Barney, Melissa Gates, Kerri Driscoll and Katie Darvin each scored a goal. Emma Hou, Anna Nesser, Antonia Park, Randi Little and Gioia Basile assisted in the goals.  Emily Mester and Karoline Policarpio combined for the shutout in goal.  The Flash ended their season at 6-2-2.  

Barri Boyarsky scored a late equalizer as the Millburn Hornets tied previously unbeaten and untied Parsippany Hawthorns 1-1 in U-10 Girls action.  Niamh Freeman, Kathleen Cioffi and Isabelle Orlan starred in defense while Sarah Rovit made several key saves to limit the visitors to one goal.

The Millburn Missiles had a stunning 2-1 win over Metuchen Fire.  Koby Cohen scored the goal in the first half and Alex Dorfschneider had a fantastic kick in the second half to win the game.  Great defense was played through out the game by Zack Dorfschneider, Jason Berg and Vikram Mahendru    

The Millburn Dynamite knocked in two goals against the Branchburg Blasters in a 7-2 loss in Branchburg.  Sydney Rosenbaum and Caitlyn Dwyer tallied one goal each. Outstanding teamwork lead by (offense) Isabelle Burakov, (defense) Sophie Eichler, Emma Burakovsky, and Bridgette Muller and Lauren Oxley.    

The Millburn U9 Heat defeated Chatham United by a score of 3-0. Jack Meselsohn scored to give the Heat an early lead. Ben Utz added two goals to keep them on top, one of them with a header assist from Christian Clark. Ramsey Little and Andrew Aronson both turned in stellar performances, and Ethan Fine's strong play at keeper helped save the shutout.

The Cobras beat the West Orange Flyers 3-1 on goals from Benji Prashker, Will Rosenberg and Charlie Levison.  Brandon Perry and Rosenberg were credited with assists. Goalkeepers Michael Kologlu and Andrew Clark limited the West Orange offense with superb net minding.  

The Millburn U8 Rockets took down the Livingston Legend by a score of 5-2.  After trailing 1-0 for the first half, the Rockets surged ahead with a scoring blitz. Jason Strollo knocked in two goals followed by quick goals from Griffin Schwartz, Ahbay Pant and Alex Migoya.  Henry Graff and Danny Mottesi provided stellar all-around play to secure the victory.  

The Millburn Cyclone's battled the Monroe Township Lightning to a 2-2 tie.  Allison DeMeo scored both goals for the Cyclones off penalty kicks.  Keeper Hannah Barr turned in a stellar effort for the Cyclones.  

The Pythons earned a second victory in Sunday's game against the Clarkstown, N.Y. 99 White.  Mangold scored the only goal of the game with picture perfect passes from Richie Schiekofer to Drew Cohn on the assist.  Keeper Justin Ehly starred in goal, blocking eight shots in the first half of the game.  Will Anton, Sebastian Vazquez, and Perry Schwartz kept up the pressure on offense with Justin Wang and Connor Lally holding steady on defense and in the midfield.

Daniel Horgan scored the lone goal for the Inferno in a 6-1 loss to the Cranford Bulldogs. Forward Tyler Adelman and defender Matthew Wrobleski showed strong effort for the Inferno.  

The Torpedoes played short-handed, losing 3-0 to Colonia Stars.  Brandon Hersh, Michael Cioffi, Nicholas Hatzis-Schoch and Evan Portnoi starred in goal.  Max Comito, Aron Gianchandani, Sam Ephraimson, Jack Simons, PJ Powar and Jason Kopito rounded out the Torpedoes roster this year.

Crusader mid fielders Jen Jacobs and defender Julia  Brucker shined in a 5-0 loss to Hunterdon United Blue Lightning  

The Tornadoes extended their unbeaten run to five games with a comfortable 4 - 0 victory over Hopewell Valley Blizzard.  Regular goalie Shannon Tanner, making a rare appearance in the outfield, set up the first goal for Mica MacInnes with Phoebe Oxley pouncing at close range to add a second a few minutes later. Ally Langendorff providing the assist. Tanner and Langendorff themselves completed the scoring for Tornadoes while Rachel Hubertus performed well in goal to round out a successful road trip.
