Millburn, NJ - The New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) recently honored 217 high school student-athletes for their achievements, awarding the students $172,000 in college scholarships.

According to a news release, each NJSIAA member high school has the opportunity to select one senior student as their scholar-athlete of the year. Those students then attend the scholar-athlete luncheon where, through a random drawing, they have the chance to win a college scholarship from one of multiple sponsors.

Since 1993, the NJSIAA has honored more than 6,900 New Jersey high school students and distributed more than $1.5 million in college scholarships through its scholar program, according to a news release.
