Millburn Students Score Big In Debate Championship
Ranen Miao leaves the TOC ranked first in the country for Congressional Debate.
MILLBURN, NJ - Millburn sent a delegation to the 48th Tournament of Champions at the University of Kentucky and Ranen Miao left the contest ranked first in the country for Congressional Debate.
In order to compete, students must first qualify by placing high enough at two different national tournaments to receive two bids. This year, there were 138 competitors from all over the country, including New York, New Jersey, Illinois, Texas, Florida, Arkansas, Ohio, Minnesota, North Carolina, California, and Nevada.
This year's Millburn delegation had students competing in three separate divisions after qualifying: Hannah Hirsch (junior) and Sanah Singh (junior) in Congressional Debate, Kevin Wang (junior) in Lincoln-Douglas, and Somil Agarwal (junior) in Public Forum. They are coached by Jordy Barry.
