Last week the Millburn Summer Swim Team closed out the summer season with a total of 5 wins and 3 loses. Millburn had an important win at home against Livingston on Tuesday, June 19th with a score of 232 to 209. On Thursday Millburn had a much tougher match up at Berkeley Heights and fought hard but at the end, fell short with a score of 185 to 258. Swimmers, coaches and parents alike have shared much team spirit for an exciting summer. In reflecting on their summer, 9-year old and 7-year old teammates Luke Chua and Eleanor Wiggers shared thoughts on their swim team experience. Luke highlighted that "Millburn swimming is fun because you get to request new strokes and the coaches let you try them and support you all the way." Ambitious and budding new swimmer, Eleanor Wiggers, summed it up best by stating "I like swimming because it is good and makes me feel very strong. When I grow up I want to be a champion swimmer so I can win some ribbons, medals and trophies."
As the season comes to a close this week with both Divisionals and the Meet of the Champions, Millburn swimmers are still filled with excitement and grateful not just for their dedicated, caring coaches but for their own parent volunteers that are literally the backbone of the organization. The Millburn Summer Swim Team wouldn't be able to carry on year after year without our parent volunteers' commitment and spirit. They truly bring a positive influence on the success of our swimmers.
