MILLBURN, NJ - Millburn Assistant Superintendent Kyle Arlington is leaving the district to take the helm of the Kenilworth School District. Arlington succeeds Thomas Tramaglini, who resigned after he was charged with defecating near the track and football field at Holmdel High School.
Arlington was unanimously appointed to lead the Kenilworth School District by the Kenilworth Board of Education at a Special Board of Education in December and is expected to start this month. Dr. Marilyn Birnbaum has been serving as Interim Superintendent of Schools since August.
Millburn Superintendent Dr. Christine Burton said she had mixed emotions about Arlington's leaving.

"I am excited for him as he embarks on this next step in his career, but he will be greatly missed here in Millburn. In the more than three years since Mr. Arlington joined our team he has provided exemplary leadership in the achievements of this district," Burton said. "He has been instrumental in the vision and implementation of the technology and curriculum goals that the referendum projects have supported. His collaboration with administrators and teachers to enhance, expand and articulate curriculum, has moved our district forward exponentially toward future-readiness. Kenilworth’s gain is certainly our loss, but we wish Mr. Arlington all the best."
Arlington, a resident of Denville, holds a master’s degree from Caldwell College in Educational Administration, a second master’s from Montclair State College as a Reading Specialist and did his undergraduate work at Fordham University. Arlington has served as the Assistant Superintendent of Schools in the Millburn since 2015. Prior to Millburn he served as the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, Personnel and Policy in the Vernon School District. He has experience as a director, assistant building principal and prior to that was a high school English Teacher. He is currently an adjunct professor at Montclair State University and Drew University.

Board of Education President Nancy Zimmerman said Arlington was selected after a search that involved 60 candidates.
"We are very pleased to appoint Mr. Kyle Arlington to serve as Kenilworth's new Superintendent of Schools. Mr. Arlington has an impressive background with great experience; he has a commitment to student achievement and has the skills the Board was looking for in an educational leader," she said. "We look forward to having Mr. Arlington lead our district to greater academic achievement over the next four years and beyond.”
