Mystery Business Coming to Downtown

Workers are busy getting ready the shop at the corner of Main and Essex streets.

The Cold Stone signs have been removed from the building at the corner of Main and Essex streets, but it remains a mystery what specifically is being planned for the space.

Workers at the building have been mum on what will move into the former ice cream shop and when it could open. Paper has been placed over the windows. Rumors, though, are a gelato shop will be moving in where the Cold Stone was once located.

"For Rent" signs appeared in the windows of the store last July and were removed within a week or so of being hung. At that time, the building owners said they wanted to lease the space to another ice cream shop, including a Cold Stone. The space had once been where Carvel was located downtown.
