New Millburn School Board Member To Take Oath At Monday Meeting

The meeting will be the first in-person Millburn Board of Education meeting since July 2020.

MILLBURN, NJ — New Millburn Board of Education member Neetu Salhotra will be installed at the next meeting this Monday, which will be the board's first in-person meeting in over a year. The meeting will not be livestreamed, but will be recorded.

At its annual Board of Education Retreat meeting on June 24, the school board heard from a whopping eight people interested in filling the open term left by the departure of Caroline Updyke.

Statements were presented by Krystle Adams, Jenessa Dieterle, Asaf Farshuddin, Peter Grigoryev, Brian Lawrence, Devang Nagrecha, Neetu Salhotra, and Jing Wen.

The board unanimously approved the nomination of Ms. Salhotra.

The board thanked all the candidates for their interest, and encouraged them to continue volunteering in the schools and to run for a three-year seat on the Board of Education in November. (Deadilnes to run for that seat is July 26. Watch for an upcoming story with more details.)

Ms. Salhotra will take the oath of office Monday at the board meeting at the Education Center, 434 Millburn Ave. at 7 p.m., which is open to the public. This is the first meeting to be held in person at the board building since March 2020.

The board meeting will be recorded, and will be posted later on the school district website and on the township public access channel.
