Patch Series: Unique Crowdfunding Campaigns In Essex County
Here are four ways to put your money to work for your community.

You don’t need a million dollars to be a philanthropist.
Crowdfunding - the practice of financing a project or venture by raising monetary contributions from a large number of people – is changing the way that people fundraise… and it’s happening on a local level.
Recently, Stephen Colbert - an Essex County resident - made a $800,000 donation to fund every single education project from his home state of South Carolina listed on the crowdfunding site, DonorsChoose.org.
