Police Make Shoplifting, Credit Card Theft Arrests at Mall

Four people arrested in one shoplifting incident.

The Millburn police were at the Mall at Short Hills to make shoplifting and credit card theft arrests last week.

A group of four people from Summit and Livingston were arrested after a shoplifting incident at the Mall at Short Hills.

Cristian Campos-Moya, 28, and Karen Campos-Moya, 24, both of Summit, both were charged with conspiracy and shoplifting. Cynthia Alpizar, 26, of Summit and Victor Soufferont, 43, of Livingston also were charged with conspiracy and shoplifting.

Police said they were called to Macy's just after 7 p.m. on Sunday for a report of the shoplifting incident. Soufferont pocketed cash for numerous items, which were bagged and carried out by the three women, police said. The total value of the items is $885.

An East Elmhurt, N.Y. man was arrested after he allegedly used a fradulent credit card.

Evangelos Vasdekis, 23, was charged with credit card theft, exhibiting a false government document, possession of a falsely made drivers license and two counts of fraudulent use of credit cards.

Police said they were monitoring a radio transmission of the suspect in an attempt to use a fraudulent credit card at Neiman Marcus and Chanel at the mall on Friday just before 4:30 p.m.

Officers detained Vasdekis outside the entrance by Neiman Marcus valet. Police said he attempting to fraudulently purchase merchandise valued at $3,477.55 from Neiman Marcus with a credit card and identification in the name of another person and fraudulently attempting to purchase merchandise valued at $2,600 from Chanel with a credit card and identification in the name of another person.

Teaneck Man Arrested for Vehicle Burglary

Police arrested a Teaneck man after he allegedly possessed a laptop computer reported stolen in Millburn-Short Hills.

Gregory A. Treadwell, 52, was charged with receiving stolen property. Police said he was in possession of the computer reported stolen from a vehicle on Feb. 19.

Soccer Equipment Stolen from Rector Street

A Rector Street resident reported soccer equipment was taken from his residence on Saturday.

The resident said he had placed the equipment on his driveway next to his residence, police said. He went into his home for a few minutes at 3:30 p.m. and when he returned four soccer balls and four goalie gloves were missing, police said.

The items are valued at $120.

Power Tool Stolen on Short Hills Circle

A worker from American Fiber Optics reported someone had stolen his hammer drill on Thursday.

The report of the Hilti brand hammer drill came in at just after 1:30 p.m. The drill was valued at $250 and was taken from a car at the rear of 27 Short Hills Circle, police said. Police believe the theft happened between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
