Rahway Tributary Is Churning!

Torrential rain leads to heavy runoff but no flooding.

The heavy rain storms that raged through Millburn and surrounding towns earlier Sunday led to churning, roaring waters in the town's creek that runs through the business district and ultimately joins the Rahway River downstream.

Despite the rapid-like appearance of the waters and the sound of the chugging waters that could be heard from a distance, the creek was in no danger of overflowing with at least 8 to 10 feet of wall left to climb.

The waters in no way approached the levels achieved by Hurricane Floyd that devastated the town back in 1999 (there's a great picture of a flooded Millburn Avenue high on the shelves at the Millburn Delicatessen; visit and check it out).
