Short Hills: Deerfield Students Take Home Lego Challenge Awards

The Short Hills students explored the topic of "Waste-Wise."

Short Hills, NJ – Five teams from the Deerfield Elementary School in Short Hills recently participated in the Junior First Lego League Exhibition, all taking home awards for their efforts.

According to a news release, two Deerfield teams participated at the LRC Jr. FLL expo in Livingston and three teams participated at the Plainsboro FLL Jr. Spring Expo.

This year, the FIRSTLEGO League Jr. challenge dared students to explore the topic of “Waste-Wise” and showcased their research which included a "Show Me" poster and a motorized model using Lego elements.

According to a news release, the following teams won awards:

  • “United Craft Bots” secured the "Inquiring Minds” award
  • "Wastewise Kings" won the "Best Robotics model" award
  • “Diamond Crafters” won the "Best Team Spirit" award
  • “6MM” secured the "Out of the Box" award 
  • “Creative Bulldogs” secured the "Best Team Spirit" award

All teams showcased their work at Deerfield's First Robotic Exhibition on June 2.
