Short Hills House Fire May Have Started With Plumber’s Soldering: Officials
A house fire on Canterbury Lane in Short Hills caused some damage but no injuries, authorities say.
SHORT HILLS, NJ — A small house fire on Canterbury Lane in Short Hills caused some damage but no injuries on Thursday afternoon, authorities say.
Millburn Battalion Chief Tom Pizzano said that the fire started on the 100-block of Canterbury Lane around 12:36 p.m. The conflagration is still under investigation, but preliminary reports indicate that it started when a plumber’s soldering efforts set fire to the wood on the inside of the wall, Pizzano said.
Millburn firefighters were forced to remove a wall inside the home to combat the flames, but managed to quickly extinguish the blaze, Pizzano said.
