Short Hills Mall Thefts Top $5k In September: Cops

Stolen Apple items and credit card fraud brought police to the retail outlet last month.

MILLBURN, NJ - A pair of crimes in the Short Hills Mall totaling over $5,500 brought police to the retail spot in September, according to officials.

  • The Apple Store in the mall called in the police on Sept. 15 to report the theft of four Apple pencils and two Magic Mouse items with an estimated value of $554. Millburn Police Officer Lanni responded to the call and the incident remains under investigation, police said.
  • A Chanel handbag worth an estimated $5,011 was at the center of a Sept. 17 police action that saw Millburn Police Officer O'Neill responded to Neiman Marcus. Employees at Neiman Marcus furnished O'Neill with evidence that 53-year-old Han-Fen Wang of Flushing, N.Y., used a counterfeit credit card to purchase a Chanel handbag valued at $5011.38, police said. Wang was placed under arrest and charged with forgery and credit card fraud and released on a summons, police said.
