Short Hills Man, Teen Charged With Burglary After Pursuit: Police
Christian Niles and Amanda Peterson were confronted by a homeowner, authorities said.
MILLBURN, NJ - A 21-year-old Short Hills man and an 18-year-old Short Hills woman were arrested after a footchase and charged with burglary on Aug. 27, according to the Millburn Police Department.
Millburn Police responded to a residential burglary report on Woodcrest Avenue where the resident said that sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. someone cut through a screen on a back window and a passport was taken.
While processing the house, police were alerted that a resident on Farley Road had just confronted Christian Niles and Amanda Peterson who were burglarizing his residence, police said. Detective Roberto Delgado located both individuals, and after a brief foot pursuit placed Niles under arrest, police said. Millburn Police Officer Lanni placed Peterson under arrest. Niles was found to have the proceeds from the Woodcrest Avenue burglary in his pocket, as well as proceeds from the Farley Road burglary which included jewelry, prescriptions, and clothing, police said.

Both individuals were charged with burglary and theft and remanded to the Essex County Correctional Facility.
