Short Hills Ninjas Show Off Their Craft

Can Do Tae Kwon Demo Team performance at the Sheraton Kids Fest celebration in Parsippany.

Kicking, sparring, wrestling, knife-blocking and sword fighting, the Can Do Fitness Tae Kwon Do Demo Team  from Short Hills and Princeton looked like ninjas as they delivered an action-packed demonstration at the Sheraton Kids Fest celebration in Parsippany a week ago.

Although the knives and swords were wooden, the fighting looked very realistic. The fast moving exhibition was tightly choreographed to music.  Approximately 30 children, ranging from 5-14 years old and from red belt to black belt, demonstrated the energy, persistence and versatility developed through martial arts training.

The event showcased Tae Kwon Do forms and the art of self-defense as the students warded off mock attackers. The performers also delivered deft demonstrations of martial arts weapons, such as nun-chuks (two sticks linked with a chain), bo-staffs (batons) and kamas (scythe shaped weapons) .
