Sidewalk Sale is a Wash

Attendance low due to the weather

Today was the official end of the sidewalk sale in downtown Millburn. The sale itself has been lackluster in the words of local merchants. "We have hardly noticed there is a sale at all" says Susan Scott a sales associate at Pierre Deux, "yesterday, when the weather was better there were more customers, and some people phoned to ask if we were participating in the sale, but Thursday and today the weather is so bad no one wants to attend a sidewalk sale."

This sentiment was echoed by Vicky Powell, daughter of Shala Powell, owner of Shala, on Main Street. "We're waiting out the weather," she said as she chatted with her sister Kathy and friend Gina Fogel.

Edy Kish, owner of Un de Find, said that while there has been traffic in her store for graduation outfits the sale itself didn't draw more customers than usual. "Yesterday was good, but this sale isn't getting a ton of traffic."
