Soccer Fans Hope to Party like it's 1999

Where will you be watching the Women's World Cup Germany final Sunday?

The United States women's national soccer team is back where it was in 1999—the finals of the FIFA Women's World Cup.

Those old enough to remember that 1999 game won't easily forget Brandi Chastain's goal-winning penalty kick and celebration that followed. And Sunday will be a chance for a whole new generation of young soccer fans to be inspired by some top level soccer.

The U.S. team secured a spot in the finals Wednesday after defeating the French team 3-1 in a semi-final game.

The American team came into World Cup Germany ranked first in the world after winning an Olympic Gold Medal in 2008, as well as Algarve Cups in 2008 and 2010.

A win against Japan on Sunday in the final would be the third for the U.S. team, which won in 1991 and 1999. Meanwhile this will be the first final appearance for the Japanese team, who defeated Sweden 3-1 Wednesday.
