Heaven is Heaven to Second Grade Students

Did you ever sit and imagine what Heaven really looks like, feels like, smells like, and even tastes like? The students in Mrs. Carangelo’s Second Grade class did exactly that! Each student closed their eyes and tried to imagine what each of their senses would experience in Heaven.

The students then began the writing process to put their own ideas down on paper. Students then edited, rewrote, and illustrated a picture to match their writing piece. So many wonderful visions and sensory experiences were etched into each students published work. Each writing piece was put into a class book that each child took home to share with their families.

Ideas like, “Heaven smells like bacon.” “In Heaven you walk on clouds made of cotton candy.” “Heaven is like a city where people give cookies to new people who enter.” “All people have bread and water.” Another student said, “I think Heaven looks like Love.” Yet another student wrote, “I want to taste the Love of God like I do now.”
