Talking Garden Lecture at Reeves-Reed Arboretum: What's in a botanical name?
Join Director of Horticulture, Marc Montefusco, as he does the impossible by making scientific nomenclature relevant and fun!
This special horticulture lecture will discuss the history, rationale, and application of so-called "Latin names," including reasons why you should learn them and what might happen if you don't. Binomial nomenclature, or the scientific naming system, is an ingenious and precise way to not only name a living organism, but to understand where that organism fits in the big picture. Impress your friends. Impress your self. Go Latin!
