TRASHED - Jeremy Irons Documentary Explores “Zero-Waste” JANUARY 14, 2014 @ 7:00 PM, MILLBURN PUBLIC LIBRARY

The Green Teams of Millburn, Maplewood and South Orange will host a free screening of TRASHED on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 7:00 PM at the Millburn Public Library at 200 Glen Avenue, Millburn, NJ.

The powerful environmental documentary “TRASHED,” with Academy Award winning actor Jeremy Irons as investigator and guide, explores the global waste crisis and the environmental and human costs of mankind’s excessive generation and irresponsible disposal of waste materials. The film is of acute relevance for Essex County, where the great majority of waste is burned and recycling occurs far less frequently than is possible. This film charts a course of true sustainability that focuses on waste prevention and recycling.

TRASHED  is a global conversation between Irons and scientists, politicians and individuals.
Visually and emotionally the film is both horrific and beautiful, an interplay between human interest and a political wake-up call. But TRASHED ends on a message of hope by showing how the risks to our survival can easily be averted through use of sustainable, non-polluting approaches.

TRASHED is recommended for audience members 12 years and over. Refreshments and Q&A will follow. For more information, contact millburntownshipgreenteam@gmail.com
