Two School Board Members Resign In Millburn

Kate Foss and Jennifer Woodhouse are out. A search is on for their replacements.

MILLBURN, NJ - Kate Foss and Jennifer Woodhouse announced their resignations during the Millburn School District Board of Education meeting Monday night, effective immediately. Citing personal and work commitments, Foss and Woodhouse now leave two vacancies the Board is looking to fill by the end of January.

The individuals selected will serve as members of the Board of Education from the date of appointment (anticipated Jan. 28, 2019) through Dec. 31, 2019.

  • One position fulfills a term that ends as of December 31, 2019.
  • The second position will be placed on the ballot at the annual election in November 2019, to fulfill the remainder of that term for one-year (January 2020 to December 2020).

  • A citizen of the United States of America
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Able to read and write
  • A resident of Millburn Township for at least (1) year preceding the date of
  • appointment
  • Not directly/indirectly interested in a contract with, or a claim against, the Board
  • Registered to vote in the District
  • Not disqualified as a voter pursuant to NJSA 19:4-1
  • The successful candidate will need to undergo a criminal history background check upon appointment.

Letters of application will be accepted through Thursday, Jan. 3, until 4 p.m.

According to officials, the Board of Education will review all qualifying applicants. Candidates will be offered the opportunity to make a three-minute public statement at the Jan. 7 Board of Education meeting.

Officials said the Board anticipates making the appointment at the Board of Education meeting on Jan. 28.
