Verizon Expanding in Livingston

Verizon announced Tuesday that it is opening a customer service and support center in Livingston that will employ 950 workers.

The center will be located in 153,000 square feet of office space in the Eisenhower Corporate Campus, 290 West Mt. Pleasant Ave. in Livingston.

Besides customer services and support, Verizon will also move some engineering teams, network technicians and other operational groups to the center.

The facility is expected to open in the third quarter of 2009.

Verizon says employees at the new facility will be transferred from its existing operations in Scotch Plains and Madison.

The company says it does not plan on adding new employees as a result of the move.
