For a decade, The Montclair Inn, a non-profit affordable housing residence for independent seniors, has flourished under the visionary leadership of Executive Director Joy Charles Kay. Today, we proudly celebrate her 10th anniversary, recognizing her unwavering commitment to cultivating an exceptional and vibrant community where residents thrive. Joy's dedication perfectly embodies the Inn's mission: to champion independence, well-being, and a high quality of life for Montclair's cherished seniors.

Affordable residences like The Montclair Inn empower older adults to live independently in a safe, supportive environment without the financial burden of traditional housing. With chef-prepared meals served daily, the Inn not only preserves dignity and fosters connection, but also protects residents from housing insecurity and food insecurity at a time when stability matters most.

Over the past ten remarkable years, Joy's impact has been nothing short of transformative, marked by:

• Steadfast Operational & Financial Stewardship: Expertly navigating the Inn's operations and finances, ensuring a sustainable and supportive environment for both beloved residents and dedicated staff.
• Securing Transformative Grant Funding: Successfully securing crucial grants that have paved the way for vital renovations, significantly elevating the comfort and safety of our cherished facilities.
• Cultivating an Exceptional Team: Building and nurturing a devoted and highly skilled team of employees who are the heart of the Montclair Inn.
• Forging Powerful Community Connections: Expanding our reach with passion and purpose through dynamic local press, engaging online media, and a vibrant social media presence, deepening our ties with the wider community. Joy has built lasting partnerships with The Montclair Foundation, Toni’s Kitchen, Reach Out Montclair, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Inc., Partners for Better Health Foundation, The Livingston Rotary, and The Northeast Earth Coalition.
