4 Fire Crews Respond To Montclair House Blaze (VIDEO)
Fire crews from Bloomfield, Clifton and East Orange helped their Montclair peers to battle a blaze on Upper Mountain Avenue.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A blaze at an unoccupied Montclair home caused fire, smoke, heat and water damage to the building and a minor injury to a firefighter on Tuesday afternoon. The injured firefighter was treated at a nearby hospital and released, authorities said.
According to the Montclair Fire Department, the conflagration took place around 3:23 p.m. at a house on Upper Mountain Avenue. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found a “heavy smoke condition” coming from all three floors of the home.
Fire crews from Bloomfield, Clifton and East Orange helped their Montclair peers to bring the blaze under control around 4:19 p.m. One firefighter suffered a minor injury and was briefly hospitalized, Montclair fire officials said.

The building sustained heavy fire damage to the first-floor kitchen and powder room, as well as smoke, heat and water damage throughout the rest of the building. Several windows and walls were damaged for ventilation and to check for fire extension, Montclair fire officials said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, authorities stated Wednesday.
