4 Montclair Police Standouts Promoted
Read the biographies of four standout Montclair police officers here.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A swearing-in ceremony was held in Municipal Chambers Wednesday to promote four Montclair Police Department officers.
The four MPD standouts were promoted to the following ranks: Michael LoCoco and Charlie Cunningham were promoted to the rank of sergeant, Tyrone Williams was promoted to the rank of lieutenant and Scott Buehler was promoted to the rank of captain.
In addition to the promoted MPD members, Brian Klukowicz was sworn into regular status as a police officer.

Montclair town officials provided the following biographies of each officer:
Michael LoCoco is a graduate of John Jay College with a bachelor’s degree in police studies. He is a trained accident investigator and has served as a field training officer where he provided valuable departmental training to new officers. LoCoco was also assigned to the Juvenile Aid Bureau where he investigated and mentored teens and acted as a liaison between township schools and the police department.

Charles Cunningham has a bachelor’s degree in sociology with a concentration in criminal justice from William Paterson University. He also has a master’s degree in criminology from Jersey City State University. Cunningham has worked as a detective with the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office and has served as a detective in the Department’s Detective Bureau, as a member of the Community Response Team, Honor Guard, firearms instructor, and is currently the commander of the Narcotics Bureau.
Tyrone Williams Jr. is a Caldwell University graduate with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Williams Jr. served eight years in the United States Army during the Gulf War. He has worked as a school resource officer and a community policing officer and spent the majority of his time with the department as a detective in the Juvenile Aid, Narcotics, and the Detective bureaus. Williams Jr. currently serves as the commander of the Community Service Unit and is the Civil Rights Commission liaison.
Scott Buehler obtained his bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University and has a master’s degree from in criminal justice Aspen University. Buehler has worked as a community policing officer and a detective in the Narcotics Bureau. He also was also a sergeant in the Detective Bureau. As a lieutenant, Buehler was assigned to many positions, including Narcotics Bureau commander, Detective Bureau commander, Uniform Division Office commander, and the Support Service Bureau commander. He is currently the commander of the Professional Standards Office and serves as the department’s budget officer.
Brian Klukowicz graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and is a graduate from the Essex County Police Academy. Klukowicz previously served with the Essex County Sheriff’s Office as a deputy sheriff.
