MONTCLAIR

The Montclair Department of Recreation & Cultural Affairs will host three free outdoor screenings of popular movies this summer.

Viewers can bring blankets and lawn chairs to the family-friendly event, a town news release states.

Movies will include:

  • Friday, June 24 - Star Wars: The Force Awakens - Edgemont Park (Raindate: Saturday, June 25)
  • Friday, July 8 - Sponge Bob: Sponge Out Of Water -- Mountainside Park (Raindate: Saturday, July 9)
  • Friday, July 22 - Zootopia -- Nishuane Park (Raindate: Saturday, July 23)

CALDWELL

The 2016 West Caldwell Gazebo Concert Series will feature free performances from local musicians until Aug. 4.

All performances are held around 7:30 p.m. at the gazebo in Crane Park, located near 30 Clinton Road in West Caldwell. Food will be available for purchase at 6:30 p.m.

The concert schedule includes:

  • June 30 – Beginnings (Chicago tribute band)
  • July 14 - Steppin Out (R&B, Disco, Motown, Jazz and Top 40)
  • July 21 - AM Gold (hit tunes from 1975-1990)
  • July 28 – Roustabouts (retro Rock ‘n’ Roll)
  • August 4 - Total Soul (Motown, R&B, Soul and classic disco; Rain date is Aug. 11 for this concert only)

LIVINGSTON

Regal Bank will sponsor the 8th annual Livingston Summer Concert Series, featuring free, live musical performances every Sunday evening in July.

All concerts take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Gazebo at Memorial Field in Livingston, a news release stated.

In case of inclement weather, shows will be held in the Livingston High School Auditorium. Participants are welcome to bring blankets, beach chairs and picnic food, a release stated.

Entertainment for 2016 includes:

  • The Infernos (classic rock and pop)
  • The B-Street Band (Bruce Springsteen tribute)
  • Park Avenue (doo-wop)
  • AM Gold (Hall & Oates and Steely Dan tribute)

NUTLEY

The Nutley Farmers Market will kick off its 2016 season on Sunday, June 12.

The market will from June through October and will take place in Municipal Parking Lot #1 (on William Street, on the east side of Franklin Avenue), from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This year’s market will feature live musical entertainment and a wide variety of fresh regionally-grown produce, as well as cut flowers, homemade cheese, dried fruit and fresh nuts, pickles, bread and more.

NEWARK

The New Jersey Historical Society will host a “History Tours” program starting at the New Jersey Historical Society building across the street from Military Park at 52 Park Place in Newark.

The free tours will take place on Friday and Saturdays from noon to 1 p.m. until Sept. 10. See the full schedule here.
