Adjunct Profs At 9 New Jersey Colleges May Get Raises: Report
The reported four-year deal comes on the heels of a massive protest at nine colleges.
MONTCLAIR, NJ — Nearly 5,000 adjunct professors in New Jersey may see raises as part of a tentative contract agreement reached last week, a report says.
On Nov. 22, adjunct faculty members at nine public colleges in the state reached a deal with the Governor's Office of Employee Relations, which represents the schools, NorthJersey.com reported.
The Council of New Jersey State College Locals represents the adjunct professors, who will get $230 more per credit if their union members approve the contract. It will bring their rate to $1,705 per credit for faculty with 12 semesters or less at a college, and $1,755 per credit for faculty with 13 semesters or more, NorthJersey.com reported.

Those colleges include the College of New Jersey, Kean University, Montclair State University, New Jersey City University, Ramapo College, Rowan University, Stockton University, Thomas Edison State University and William Paterson University.

Another 5,000 unionized full-time faculty members, librarians and staff professionals at the schools are still in negotiations with state officials, NorthJersey.com reported.
