Alleged ‘Threat’ Involving Montclair School Not Credible: Police

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Authorities in Montclair said that a possible “threat” that circulated on social media involving the high school earlier this week isn’t credible.

On Wednesday, Montclair town officials retweeted a statement from local police about the incident, stating that there is “no credible threat to the school community.”

Montclair officials wrote:

“On May 7, members of Montclair High School and the school resource officer learned of a possible threat circulating on social media. Detectives are currently conducting an active investigation with the cooperation of the involved student and his family.”

Montclair officials provided the following update:

“Preliminary investigation has determined that there was no weapon readily available, nor credible threat to the school community. Contrary to misinformation that has been shared on social media, there have been no prior reports of threatening behavior concerning the student.”
