MONTCLAIR, NJ — A vehicle theft took place at a car wash in Montclair last weekend, authorities say.
According to the Montclair Police Department, officers responded to Montclair Mobile Car Care on Bloomfield Avenue on Sunday after getting a report about a stolen car.
The victim told officers that the theft took place as they were getting their Dodge Durango washed.
After the wash, the driver’s side door of the Durango was left open for staff to get in. Suddenly, a black Mercedes Benz SUV with tinted windows pulled up to the car wash. A young male suspect got out, entered the Dodge Durango and drove away, police said.
Both vehicles headed east on Bloomfield Avenue. The Durango was recovered the following day in Newark, police said.
