2. Man Exposed His Genitals To Woman As She Was Walking To Work, Montclair Police Say (patch.com) — Montclair police are investigating after a man allegedly exposed himself to a woman walking to work near Midland Avenue and Portland Place on Aug. 26. The suspect, described as a husky man in his 30s with a beard, wore a black shirt and light blue flamingo-print shorts and was last seen heading west on Portland Place.
3. Attempted Burglary Reported In Montclair, Resident Catches Suspect On Camera: Police (patch.com) — Montclair police are warning residents after a Highland Avenue homeowner discovered security footage of a masked man trying to enter his house around 3 a.m. on Aug. 29. The suspect, wearing a gray Nike Tech hoodie, gloves, and striped dark pants, shined a flashlight into the kitchen and tried the rear door before leaving without getting inside.
4. Data Shows Higher Concentration of Lead Service Lines in Montclair's 3rd, 4th Wards (montclairlocal.news) — Montclair officials have identified higher concentrations of lead, galvanized, and brass water service lines in the Third and Fourth wards, which are more renter-heavy and lower income than the First and Second. With 260 problem lines confirmed so far and about 300 still unidentified, the township plans a multi‑year, $750,000‑per‑100‑lines replacement effort and is considering rules affecting home sales with lead lines.
5. Montclair State virtual reality lab will teach new content creators (northjersey.com) — Montclair State University is launching a cutting‑edge Dreamscape Learn virtual reality lab on campus, giving students access to immersive, story‑driven learning experiences in fields like biology. The 26‑seat facility in the College of Communication and Media will train students to storyboard, design, code, and run VR content, supported in part by New Jersey's Film Works Grant Program.
