Spencer Savings Bank Donates $10,000 to the American Red Cross

Spencer Savings Bank, a community bank headquartered in Elmwood Park, N.J., recently donated $10,000 to the American Red Cross to aid tornado relief efforts in Oklahoma.

“Oklahoma’s series of devastating tornadoes reminds us of the importance of supporting not only our own communities, but all communities throughout the country that are in need,” said José B. Guerrero, Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Spencer Savings Bank. “It is our hope that through this donation, we are able to provide resources needed to help Oklahoma recover and rebuild. We are proud to support the American Red Cross as they provide food, shelter, relief items, health services and emotional comfort to the victims.”

Guerrero presented the donation to Allen I. Milman, Major Gift Officer, and Ron Dorrell, Associate Director of Emergency Services of the American Red Cross, on June 6, 2013.

Since the devastating Oklahoma tornados hit several communities on May 19, May 20, and May 31, 2013, the American Red Cross has offered help through multi-agency resource centers, served more than 320,000 meals and snacks from its mobile kitchens, provided 4,302 overnight shelter stays, and has provided more than 15,400 health services and emotional support contacts to comfort people affected by the tornadoes.
