Attempted 'Luring' Near Montclair High School May Have Been A Traffic Dispute: Police

A reported luring attempt near Montclair High School on Wednesday may have just been a traffic dispute, police say.

Montclair, NJ – A reported luring attempt near Montclair High School on Wednesday may have just been a traffic dispute, police say.

Montclair High School Principal James Earle reportedly sent an email to parents around 11 a.m., stating that two students said a man driving a blue Buick Century approached their car on Midland Avenue as they were parking.

The man allegedly proceeded to gesture for the students to come to his car, and did not move when the students remained in their location at their car, a report stated.

However, a Montclair police spokesman provided Patch with the following statement at 1:44 p.m.:

“We are looking into it, but it appears that this was not an attempted luring. It sounds like it was more of a traffic dispute between the elderly gentleman and the younger driver.”
