Attempted Robbery Reported Near Washington Street and Midland Avenue in Glen Ridge

Police say two men asked to see the victim's cell phone, then grabbed at it and took off running.

Glen Ridge police are seeking a pair of men accused of attempting to rob a victim near Washington Street and Midland Avenue last week.

According to police, the incident took place around 10:46 p.m. as the victim was walking west on Washington Street. Police said that the victim heard a splashing from a puddle behind them, then turned to see two males around 20-years-old following them.

The suspects allegedly asked to see the victim’s cell phone, then grabbed at it, police said.

The victim managed to escape and run to Hillside Avenue where they called police.

On arrival at the scene, officers conducted a search of the area with negative results, police stated.
