Car Chase Ends At Montclair YMCA: Driver Allegedly Fled From I-80 to I-280

Montclair, NJ – A police chase that began in Parsippany ended with an arrest at the YMCA in Montclair on Sunday, authorities said.

NJ State Police said that officers began the pursuit of a Dodge pickup truck on I-80 in Parsippany around 11:47 a.m. after receiving a report of an erratic driver, NJ.com stated.

The driver fled from I-80 to I-280, and police broke off their pursuit when the driver took the Prospect Avenue exit in West Orange, NJ.com reported.

The alleged driver of the truck was arrested after being spotted at the YMCA later that afternoon.

“Earlier, a police chase… resulted in the apprehension of an individual suffering from a mental illness. He was taken into police custody and removed from the building. The reason for the alleged chase is unknown; however, thankfully, no one was hurt.”
